Cont. half leather with gilt spine label (somewhat rubbed). - Le Chat noir was a weekly magazine founded by Rodolphe Salis and Emile Goudeau, published from 1882 to 1897 to promote the famous cabaret of the same name. The magazine included texts of the performances as well as numerous caricatures of contemporary artists and is an important literary and artistic record of the late 19th century around the Parisian bohemian scene. - With smoothed centrefold. Paper somewhat browned and sporadically brown-stained. Overall well preserved.
