Large colorful painting by David Rawnsley of a woman & child, c1960 (British 20th century).David Rawnsley (1909–1977) was a British artist and film director.-----------------------------------------------------------.David Willingham Rawnsley co-founded the Chelsea pottery with his third wife, born Elaine Doran, a model and talented ceramic artist, and with her he had five children. Rawnsley moved from England to Capri in the 60s, and there he became a well-known sculptor and artist.--------------------------------------This work is most likely from the 1960s, after his move to Italy.Known for its strong sunlight and vacation colors, the strong sundrenched appearance of blue, orange and purple suggest it was executed on the famous island.Rawmsley died on the island of Capri in 1977 at age 68.Signed by the artist lower right.
