1st-2nd items: EPOCHS OF CHINESE AND JAPANESE ART: AN OUTLINE OF EAST ASIATIC DESIGN, First Edition, Vol. I & II, by Ernest F. Fenollosa, published by William Heinemann, London, 1912. Hardcover octavos, 416 total pages including index to Vol. II with two color frontispieces with tissue paper guards, additional black and white illustrations, hardbound in publisher's navy blue cloth with decorative gilt stamping to front covers, gilt lettering to spines. Both with Arthur Probsthain, Bookseller, London labels to lower left of front covers. Includes a handwritten note from Probsthain to the original owner of the books and seven additional gallery, note cards, and other ephemera items related to China and Japan. 10 1/4" H x 8 1/4" W x 1 3/4" D. 3rd-10th items: Eight (8) 20th-century Japanese printed artworks on cardstock depicting landscape scenes and various fauna, including four (4) by Hakuun Takasu and four (4) by Shunpo Shibata. All with black character marks and red seals. English text identifying artists, en verso. Approximately 14 1/2" H x 5" D.
Condition
Books: Covers with general wear, fraying, rubbing to cloth, corners bumped. Pages with toning, foxing spots, including to frontispieces, pencil inscriptions from previous owners. Two illustrations pages between p. 8 and 9 are separated from binding.
