Description
Two (2) large Japanese Meiji Period Imari porcelain chargers with polychrome enamel decorations and gilt highlights. 1st item: Charger having vignettes of foo dogs or temple lions, birds in a landscape setting, with scattered butterflies, against a ground of foliate and geometric patterns. Blue precious object and wave decorations to underside of rim. Unmarked. 2 1/4" H x 16 1/2" dia. 2nd item: Charger having vignettes of boys playing, foo dogs or temple lions, and images of the roof of a structure, all depicted in landscape settings, against a ground of foliate and geometric patterns. Red and blue floral decorations to underside of rim. Unmarked. 2 1/4" H x 18" dia. Late 19th/early 20th century.
