Description
This lot consists of three figural bronze sculptures of road and field workers. The first is a patinated bronze sculpture of a field worker by Jean Garnier (1853 - 1910). Signed "J. Garnier" to base, c. 1890, with artist coin mark on the back of the terrace near the cast signature. Measures 6 - 1/2" tall on 2 - 3/8" diameter base. In excellent condition. The second and the largest sculpture of all three is of a road worker on rocky ground, capturing a man mid-swing with a pickaxe. Comes with plinth stating artist name "Herrn Rudolf Loers" and other writing in German. In very good condition, with age-related wear. Nice bronze with brown patina. Measures: 9 - 3/4" tall on 5" wide in diameter rock. The third sculpture is also of a road worker on black marble or granite base. This piece is unmarked, and measures with the base approximately 8 - 1/2" tall on 2 - 3/4" wide base. Light brown bronze patina, the rock is loose. Showing signs of age and use-related wear. Corners of the base is chipped. Overall all three sculptures are in good to excellent condition, and display very well. Condition: (Good - Excellent). Dimensions: Largest: 9 - 3/4" x 6" x 5".
