While in the foreground, Lot and his two daughters having escaped the fire.Size painting : 20 x 25 1/2 in.Size frame : 27 x 32 1/2 in.State of conservation : small lack of pictorial layers, see photos. Horizontal slits on the panel at the middle right, see photos.Provenance : Private collection, Paris, France.Note : Very close to the works of Gillis MOSTAERT (1528-1598). This painting on wood panel represents a Biblical episode of the destruction in Sodom. And this fire resulted in the incestuous relationship between Lot and his two Daughters because they feared for the extinction of their people owing to their flight into uninhabited territories.
