Description
1931 Moby Dick Herman Melville Whaling Voyage Winston Fischer ART Illustrated
“I know not all that may be coming, but be it what it will, Ill go to it laughing.”
― Herman Melville, Moby-Dick
Moby Dick is perhaps the most famous sea adventure novel of the 19th-century. First appearing in periodicals, Herman Melvilles most famous work saw an initial mix of responses on its way to becoming a Great American Novel, even causing authors like William Faulkner to wish they had written the book themselves. While the work itself is a story of hunting the great whale Moby Dick, it is written with themes on social class, good and evil, and even the existence of God.
This valuable 1931 American edition was published by John C. Winston Company and includes famous illustrations by Anton Otto Fischer with a full color frontispiece, two full color plates, four black and white plates, and illustrated front board paste-on and end papers. This edition also includes an introduction by William McFee and notes by M. D. Holmes.
