Description
Clock; Belgium, mid-19th century.
Green and black marble.
With Paris machinery.
Measurements: 23,5 x 35 x 14 cm.
Belgian clock made of black and green marble. The piece is structured on a rectangular base that ends in the lower part with a wave-like finish, as on the sides. The structure has been conceived on the basis of mouldings in which the expressiveness of the type of marble alternates, the black being completely opaque and the green more expressive due to its whitish veining. Two large scrolls support the spherical case of the clock, which has a concentric golden finish, giving way to a white dial, on which the Roman numerals in black and the openwork hands stand out.
