A large carved wooden janus form helmet mask with various carved elements such as a Green Lion, human skulls, birds, snakes, stars and anthropomorphic figures. The mask shows extensive wear and handling and weathered and eroded edges suggesting years of field use. Ibibio peoples, Cross River, Nigeria. The mask measures 21 inches tall. Provenance: Noted collection of Bernd Muhlack, Kiel, Germany. A helmet display stand can also be included for an additional $50.00.
