Description
A carved wooden pair of dolls, with incised linear designs and classic treatment to the overall forms. Such dolls are known as "Bigga" locally, and were often considered training aids for young girls to care for their future children, and later in life they were sometimes used as fertility aids. Mossi peoples, Burkina faso, West Africa. The dolls measure 14.5 inches tall. Provenance: Prof. Gould collection, New York.
