Description
Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran and Southeastern Turkey, Luristan, ca. 750 to 650 BCE. A rare example of a forged-iron short sword with a thick hilt surrounded by finger rings and topped with a discoid pommel. The elongated petaloid blade features sharpened edges, a gently raised midrib, and a tapered, pointed tip capable of inflicting grievous wounds. The condition is excellent given its age! Size: 19.5" L x 2.25" W (49.5 cm x 5.7 cm)

Condition
Small chips to blade, hilt, and pommel commensurate with age, with pitting and oxidation, and light earthen deposits, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina throughout.
