Continental Currency January 14th, 1779 $40 Fr-CC95 Printed BY Hall & Sellers Grades vf++. The $40 was a newer high denomination note introduced in 1778. The 1779 rendition had a bicolor face with a small but historically important modification to the emblem. A fourteenth ray, representing Vermont, not one of the thirteen colonies, was added. In addition, the back nature print was changed to a poterium leaf. The note is fully margined on both the face and back and has good colors
