Rene Buthaud (French,1886-1987), Art Deco Woman in Green Dress. Gouache & pencil on paper, signed lower right. René Buthaud is seen as one of the most accomplished and important French artists of the art deco movement, and perhaps the most important ceramicist of the period. Work by Buthaud can be found in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among many others. Literature: Cruège, René Buthaud see page 80. Provenance: Collection of Michel Fortin, artist, Paris; Collection of Stephen Engel, Florida. Dimensions: 19 1/2" high x 14 3/4" wide, framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame, though presents as very good.
