Description
A variant and potential prototype of the 1911 Model H REO Pickup Truck by Reo Motor Truck Company, Lansing, Michigan. This eye-catching vehicle has been fully restored and features the merchant "Ballantine & Taby". It represents the golden age of the horseless carriage era. When the vehicle debuted, the company advertisement in The Saturday Evening Post boasted, "The REO light delivery truck, designed by R.E. Olds, does the work of three horse-drawn trucks, at less than half the cost". This vehicle was touted as the answer to the horse-drawn deliveries and considered a competitive advantage for business owners. This vehicle was the cornerstone of the Horseless Carriage Museum, Fenelon Falls, Ontario until its recent closure. The vehicle wears an older restoration, and has not been in operation since the museum founder's illness in 2019. The curators spared no expense to outfit this vehicle with hard to find accessories. It is equipped with a brass and copper swivel searchlight by Rushmore Dynamo Works, Plainfield, New Jersey. The headlamps are matching and correct. They are stamped "P&H - British Made" underneath. The truck boasts a 90-inch wheelbase. This is a rare opportunity to own the "wow factor".
