Chinese Qing Dynasty QianLong Mille Fleurs Thousand Flowers Porcelain Garlic Vase. The porcelain potted in garlic bottle vase, bulbous lower belly, thick, cylindrical neck, with shrink on the neck middle to enlarge onion head shape, round mouth rim, raised on short small round. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white and famille rose design color, depicted of hundred flowers covered the surface. The Mille Fleur decoration, meaning the thousand flowers design first appears in the late Yongzheng period becoming extremely popular in the Qianlong and was carried on throughout the subsequent Jiaqing and DaoGuang periods, usually on a gilt ground. The dense millefleurs design features naturalistic blossoming peonies, chrysanthemums, hibiscus, morning glories, roses, lotus flowers, daisies, lilies and pinks amidst an abundance of foliage, the mouth rims with gilt bands, the bases and interiors often turquoise-enamelled on older pieces. The Under base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years QianLong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
