Description
Antique English silver art nouveau vase with glazed ceramic insert. The mark appears to be of Roberts & Belk, Sheffield. The firm was established in Sheffield in 1809 under the name of Furnyss, Pole & Turner. From 1823 it traded as William Briggs. From 1858 it was managed by William Briggs and Samuel Roberts as Roberts & Briggs. In 1863 Roberts continued the business in partnership with Charles Belk under the name Roberts & Belk. In 1901 the firm was converted to Roberts & Belk Ltd. The firm used the trade mark Romney Plate and Sylferet. Dimensions: 7.25" high x 3 1/2 " diameter at base. Condition: Some dents at base and one small break to the nouveau design. Otherwise, very good. Please see close up photos. The ceramic liner is very good. No chips, or repairs.
