2 James Stuart Blackton Venice Oil Paintings, Signed. Pair of paintings depicting the city and canals of Venice by James Stuart Blackton (British-American, 1875-1941). One painting is titled on the back as "Original no. 525 Fisherman's Home Venice by Stuart Blackton." Both are signed in the lower right corners. Oil on stretched canvas, mounted in ornate golden wood frames. Blackton is famously known as the "father of American Animation" and was a pioneer in the film industry in the Silent Era, founding Vitagraph Studios.

Dimensions are 25 in h x 18 in w x 2.5 in d and 20.75 in h x 26.75 in w x 2.5 in d. Condition is very good with some wear to frames and a few small pieces missing in frame molding. The taller painting has had a repair, as seen from the back. Please call or email for a detailed condition report.
