壺口微束，短頸，鼓腹，上部豐滿至下收斂，平底。壺嘴飾短流，流口削平，曲柄雙管連於口肩之間，另側肩各有一繫。壺裡外均施黑釉，近足處露胎，外壁黑釉潑灑不規則大塊斑點，斑點由乳白、灰藍等色組成，對比鮮明，宛若於黑色釉上彩色般的裝飾，或像潑墨、或像幾朵白雲、或像一簇浪花，奔放不羈，富有自然活潑、痛快淋漓的美感，與唐人追求浪漫雄偉的審美趣味正相適合，體顯示出盛唐風韻。
花釉是唐人對河南魯山、郟縣等地瓷窯燒造的稱謂，為唐代瓷器的創新，突破單色釉的侷限，在黑釉或褐釉上潑著大塊的藍斑或灰白色斑紋，利用釉的流動，產生類似窯變的藝術魅力，並以色彩絢麗富於變化而聞名於世，在陶瓷發展史上佔有重要地位，與「密色瓷」和「唐三彩」共稱唐代三大名瓷。本壺體飽滿，輪廓線圓潤，釉面色調黑白分明，以大塊色斑點綴器物，質樸而凝重，應為唐代河南魯山窯的典型器。
