watercolor on paper, depicting an urn containing a large floral bouquet. Inscribed in ink "M. P. Stockton for her parents D & E Stockton" flanking base of urn. Circa 1820. 11 1/4" x 9" sheet.
Provenance: From the Eddie Tatum estate collection, Winston-Salem, NC.
Catalog Note: Martha Peden Stockton (1808-1860) was born in Stokes Co., NC to parents Doughty Stockton (1776-1855) and Elizabeth Perkins Stockton (1778-1857). She married Milton Stamps on June 15, 1836 in Stokes Co. Her and her parents attended Muddy Creek Union Monthly Meeting at Kernersville where they are also buried.

Fair condition, laid on brown paper, imperfections including tears, toning/staining, small/tiny holes, small area of insect damage to surface, loss to lower left corner and some chipping to edges, not affecting the image.
