Although issued when Nevada was a very young state, this is considered territorial due to incorporation date. Location of mine was, "Story [sic] County, N. T." A rare misspelled Storey. Secretary Sproston worked as a secretary in the Gould & Curry mine around this time. By the 1870's he was a major insurance agent at Virginia City. He was so successful as Mutual had an insurance agent on hand. Those who lost property were quickly reimbursed this way, while others had to wait a significant time to get their paycheck.
