Lot of 8. 1) Three covers with Mountain City, C.T. cancels, two 1862, third possibly 1863. One has 10 cents worth of postage. 2) Collier & Wells, Publishers, Central City, corner ad cover. Mountain City 1868 (or 65) cancel. 3) Different cover for the same business (listing as "Central City, C.T."), 1865 Mountain City cancel. 4) Miners' Register, Central City, corner ad cover, Mountain City cancel. 5) Two other covers with Mountain City cancels, 1865 and 1866. Located in Gilpin County near Central City. Founded at the beginning of the Pike's Peak Rush in 1859 and known as Gregory Diggings. The Mountain City post office was one of the earliest in Colorado territory, established in January, 1860. It lasted nine years before being moved to Central City.
