wool on canvas, depicting the coat of arms for Maldon, Essex Co., England, featuring a shield divided into two with three lion passants on the left-hand side, and the right-hand side with a ship flying a flag, bordered by foliate motifs. Housed under glass in a later frame, backing paper with hand-written and cut-out typed notes in addition to a few pieces of paper with handwritten text, which includes an excerpt that reads, "From letter received 10/17/44 from International Heraldic Institute Ltd. / This petit point picture was made by Lou Raymond, great aunt of Florence M. Bennell, Angelo Herbert Bennell [and] Eva Annie Bennell, in England - and is the Coat of Arms of Maldon, England where Miss Raymond lived for a time." Together with an American / British Berlin work needlework picture, wool and silk on canvas, depicting an interior scene with a woman sitting in a chair and holding a bird wearing a leash, flanked by a lute instrument and a table with a vase of flowers and a coat of arms to side of it, the scene is framed by a curtain, background featuring a window revealing a landscape view with water, housed under glass in a period, possibly original, molded frame. Two pieces total. 19th century. Coat of arms example 7 3/8" x 8 3/8" sight, 10 1/4" x 11 3/8" OA.

Each in good visual condition with scattered losses to thread, some toning and light fading/fugitive color; frames with wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections, coat of arms example partially insecure in frame. Not examined out of frames.
