According to the statement on the copyright page, “The Christmas Visitors is based on a story collected in eastern Norway by Peter Christen Asbjornsen, the renowned Norwegian folklorist. Though the traditional version of the tale first appeared in 1852 in Norske Folkeeventyr… the theme of the bear trainer whose bear drives away the orge has been traced as far as the thirteenth century.”

Every Christmas Eve a wood cutter and his family have to prepare a feast for the trolls who come from a nearby mountain. Then one year a trapper and his white bear ask for shelter on the same holiday eve and things change for the better.

Dust jacket with a few scotch repaired creases and white labels on spine, the dust jacket is protected in mylar cover; hard boards; original white cloth with embossed decoration on the front boards and gold lettering on spine [some soiling and wear]; 10.1/8” x 7.1/2”; unpaginated [c.36 pages] including several full-page illustrations, the text and illustrations are in nice brown color, a little wear, discarded library book with library stamps and ‘withdrawn’ inside on endpapers, very good condition.
