BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Middlesex, England Langlois was a 19th century visual artist who is famous for his paintings of terriers and sporting dogs, among England's finest animal artists. This subject was very famous during this period of time, thanks to a growing love for domestic animals in England, when many artists were commissioned to do a portrait of them. One of Langlois' inspirer was his contemporary George Armfield (British, circa 1808-1893), whose ability to depict the subjects very realistically created a huge demand for his work, this style and subject matter. The several Langlois' artworks have been sold at auction, including Christie's and Bonhams. Works by Langlois can be found in many private and public collections all around the world.
