Francisco (de) Torres (c. 1509-1584) joined the Jesuit order in 1567 and became a professor at the order's college in Rome. He wrote tracts on the episcopal residency, papal authority, and Scripture. Torres was a prolific writer, taking a strictly pro-papal stance on almost every issue.
