Item Details
Description
Pair of Chinese late Qing Dynasty unmarked enameled porcelain yenyen vases in the Kangxi style, with famille rose and famille verte decor together with polychrome enamels. Mythological and martial scenes around baluster-shaped belly, coursing dragons in clouds designs against yellow ground on flared tall trumpet-shaped neck, and dense shoulder and foot bands. Built 1911-1913 Linden Hall in Southwestern, PA. was the home of Sarah Cochran , widow of Philip Cochran, a coal, iron and coke magnate. Mrs. Cochran traveled the world and worked with the Joseph Hornes Co. of Pittsburgh to import the treasures for this magnificent home. We believe these two magnificent vases were part of the original furnishings and decorations installed at The Mansion at Linden Hall. The vases are 54.5" tall and sit on a 20" tall walnut fruit and acanthus leaf carved stands. Total height 74.5" tall. The vases are mirror images of each other. Old repairs, cracks and chips at the top rim of the vases.
