Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Sican-Lambayeque, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. An extremely rare votive plaque comprised of high-grade silver (96% silver) most likely used to decorate a temple - depicting lobsters, fishes, beans, fruit, and cactus leaves (for eating as well) in repousse. Note: At the time of Inca conquest Spanish soldiers encountered temple walls dedicated to the Moon Goddess that were decorated with plaques similar to this one. Size: 7" W x 8.75" H (17.8 cm x 22.2 cm); 12.25" H (31.1 cm) on included custom stand. Silver quality: 96%

Condition
Normal surface wear with scuffs and indentations commensurate with age. Minute losses and tears to peripheries. Nice age patina with one green area as well. Unable to weigh since attached to museum-quality stand.
