Description
1910, FRANCE: A very early clockwork nodder automaton of a cobbler. These nodders generally were used in stores as attention getters for displays. Maybe from a shoe store, this nodder has original clothes, sitting on a wood bench, nailing a boot with his hammer. Motion includes moving his head and his right arm to strike the boot. CONSIDERATIONS: The original clothes are slightly tattered from age and a little soiled. The nodder figure is missing his right eye, and it may be retrievable inside his body. The clockwork mechanism will need attention as it gets stuck from time to time. Condition: (Good). Dimensions: 21 - 1/2" x 9" x 9 - 3/4".
