EXTREMELY RARE HUPFELD GRAND PIANO TYPE TRI-PHONOLA.
Item Details
Description
1926, GERMANY: Ludwig Hupfeld A.G. was the largest manufacturer of automatic musical instruments the world has ever known. In an era when the Regina Music box Co. and the Rudolph Wurlitzer Co. employed hundreds, Hupfeld employed thousands. Inside this grand piano is a Tri Phonolona pneumatic system Hupfeld called the Tri Phonola. The Tri Phonola was the competitor to the Welte Mignon system, and was believed to have been the German translation of The Aeolain Companies Pianola. This example of Hupfelds Tri Phonola is a rare instrument. Built in 1926, serial number 42229, utilizing a piano built by the Feurich factory in Leipzig, Hupfeld then installed it into the cabinet and added the Tri Phonola and the instrument was sold to the original buyer, believed to have been a famous operetta singer and pianist from Leipzig, Germany. Utilizing a separate cabinet for the pneumatic pump, beautiful black ebony finished cabinet, and optional pedal operation, this instrument is a rare survivor. Labeled for Roth & Junius, who were fine musical instrument dealers in Germany at the time. CONSIDERATIONS: Unfortunately this instrument was in Germany for restoration at the time of Henri's passing. The cabinets have restoration completed, however the piano and Tri Phonola were not completed and will need restoration for this instrument to play. Appearing complete with all necessary parts to finish a restoration. No music rolls included. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Good). Dimensions: 59 - 1/2" x 27" x 55 - 3/4".
