Item Details
Description
1914, FRANCE: Founded in 1840, Limonaire advertised itself as the oldest organ manufacturer in the world. Around 1900, Limonaire opened a factory branch in Waldkirch Germany, in the heart of the Black Forest, and at that time was turning out fairground, dance and street organs of all sizes. This example started its life in 1913 as a dance organ. In 1950 it was acquired by Gossling and rebuilt as the street organ it is today and given the name "deCupido" (from Cupid). When Henri acquired it into the collection it was restored by Johnny Verbeeck, who autographed his work. The organ has a great look, the colors are vibrant yet understated, it rides on a great cart, has great applied carvings and plays beautifully, having been recently tuned. As a side interest, when it was on display at the museum, it was visited by a famous accordion player, Cornellia Voskuylen, who signed the organ. CONSIDERATIONS: Restored, some age cracks to the façade, but nothing distracting. Plays beautifully and comes with 28 tune cards. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Restored). Dimensions: 147" x 78 - 1/2" x 121".
