Description
1900, GERMANY: Jules Heinrich Zimmermann produced Adler and Fortuna music boxes from 1895 into the early 20th century. Operating out of 3 manufacturing plants - 2 in Russia (Moscow, Leningrad) and 1 in Germany. (Leipzig) - most of the larger floor models today are believed to be from Germany, as those sold into Russia are not known to the west. The style 365 plays 65.5cm (25 - 3/4") discs across 149 teeth. The walnut cabinet is stunning with applied carvings, and original marquee, and matching storage cabinet. Coin operation on an English penny, and this instrument comes with 12 discs. CONSIDERATIONS: This instrument shows very light wear, smooth operation beginning with the drop of a coin, and with an original stenciled front glass. There is one missing rosette on the right column, easily replicated and replaced. An outstanding example of a rare upright music box, suitable for the most discerning collection. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Excellent). Dimensions: 32 - 1/8" x 20" x 92 - 1/4".
