Attributed to James McDougal Hart (American 1828-1901), untitled,19th century, oil on canvas, painting depicting a rural landscape with multiple cows in a lake with mountains in the distance, apparently unsigned, in period giltwood and gesso frame. Canvas approx. h. 20", w. 16"; Overall h. 29.75", w. 25.75".

Canvas has been lined, craquelure, two areas of scattered minor inpainting to upper left edge of canvas and three areas to sky between the trees, varnish has darkened with a hazy green layer visible under ultraviolet light, no apparent patches to canvas, paint surface is stable, minor damage to frame with area of restoration to decoration.
