English Davenport fourteen piece gilt pink ground porcelain partial dessert service, circa 1850-1870, decorated with English, Scottish, American landscape scenes comprising: two compotes, "Dunkeld" and "Near Matlock, and twelve plates, "Lake George America", "View on The Thames", "Norham Castle", "Windermere", "View From Richmond Hill", "St Mary's Loch Scotland", "Walton On Thames", "View On The River Tamer", "The Thames Near Richmond", "Dovedale", "Scene On The Wye", and "Wycombe Abbey", blue printed marks and pattern numbers in iron red. "3157/1" and 1357/1". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Helen Spitler, Cumming, Georgia. Compote approx. h. 2.75", dia. 10"; Plate dia. 9".
Condition
Both compotes with stable cracks to foot, "View on The Thames" and "Norham Castle" plates with visible restorations, some non-distracting utensil marks, one plate with a deeper pink lip, no other apparent chips, cracks or restorations.
