Ian Orlando Macbeth’s birth name was John Maurice Beaton, according to ancestry.com, U.S. Social Security Applications and Claims Index reports his name changes and dates. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada April 18, 1920. Lived in Massachusetts when he was young, and moved to New York in the early 50’s. Macbeth died in 1997, According to an article in The Voice of West Village, West View News (01/01/2014), Blast from the Past –The Explosive 60s in the Village, “A character named Ian Orlando MacBeth, a relative of (designer) Cecil Beaton, who wore Elizabethan garb and sported pink hair regularly held court at Lenny’s”. Lenny’s was in Greenwich Village. It is also said that he sometimes sported a parrot on his shoulder. Macbeth also rubbed shoulders with playwrights Harry Koutoukas and Tom Eyen, as well as artists like Andy Warhol. They both were mentioned in some articles about Downtown Pop Underground. Macbeth is known for his black light posters.22" x 29.5" Overall condition is fair.
