A delightful woodpecker whirligig by Slovenian-born Wisconsin artisan, Ivan "John" Bambic. Bambic features ten hand-carved and hand-painted woodpeckers arranged around cut tree branches with sprigs of artificial flowers and evergreen that come to life when the green windmill behind the ensemble is turned, either by hand or a blowing breeze. Bambic began constructing whirligigs based on his childhood memories in Slovenia in 1980. His whirligigs depict blacksmiths, butchers, other laborers, as well as nature-inspired scenes like this one.
