Item Details
Description
An exceptional William & Mary tall clock, the cherry case in undisturbed surface and in 'as descended' condition, having a full sarcophagus top and original wooden finials. The brass and pewter dial is signed by Jonas Fitch (1740-1808), of Pepperell, Mass. who made the wooden works and possibly the case circa 1770. Only about a dozen clocks by Fitch are known to exist, and this is by far the most elaborate case of any known examples. A remarkable survivor! 98" tall, 20 1/2" x 12 1/2".
