the movement George Stevens, London
late 17th century

The 6 1/4in brass dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes with mock pendulum aperture within cast cherub spandrels, the twin train fusee movement with verge escapement and pull repeat, striking on two bells, the well engraved backplate inscribed George Stevens, Drury Lane, Londini.
height 13in (33cm); width 9 1/4in (23.5cm); depth 6 1/4in (15.5cm)
Condition
Case later, as stated. With general marks, scratches, rubbing and wear. The silvered dial possibly later or resilvered and enameled. The movement sitting on two rectangular blocks in case - not affixed. Blocks supporting movement loose. Currently maintaining power but not striking. Working condition of clocks not guaranteed.
