Folding pocket map printed in red & black, with printed text on the back. 21.5x33 cm (8½x13") plus margins, folding into printed stiff paper wrappers measuring 9x6.5 cm (3½x2½").
Map of the Shanghai area at the end of World War II, produced to publicize Chang's Allied Reception Houses, in tribute to the Allied forces and those imprisoned by the Japanese, who were "welcomed and received gratis." The front wrapper title reads: Shanghai, City of Kaleidoscope, the leading metropolis of the Orient." On the back of the map is useful and informative text: "List of billets in the Shanghai area," indexes of buildings, food, lodging, entertainment and services; "Some useful Shanghai dialects," and "Chinese delicous [sic] dishes." The liberated prisoners and internees would have included members of the American Volunteer Group, better known by their nickname, The Flying Tigers.
