Description

Exceptional and rare large cast iron stove plate from the Colebrookdale Furnace in Berks County, PA, in operation from 1720 - c. 1776. This example in stele form, with highly decorative motifs of a sun flanked by two stars, overlooking arched porticos, grapevines, and tall Dutch tulips. Inscribed "COLEBROOKDALE FUR." lower center. Dimensions: H 31" x W 22" x D 1.5" Condition: Antique wear and patina consistent with age and outdoor exposure.
