Description
Thomas Potts (American, 1721-1762). Stove plate. Cast iron, Mid-Late 18th C. 23-1/2" x 23-1/2". Cast iron stove plate by Thomas Potts, likely cast in Colebrookdale Iron Co., Pennsylvania. The right side stove plate of a five-plate stove. Decorated with organic motifs, two eight-pointed stars, and marked 1758. Inscribed "LAS DICH DAS BESSE NICHT" ("be not overcome with evil") and "[T]HOMAS POTS".
Condition
Fair Condition; plate shows minor signs of wear due to age. Some rust accumulation. Upper half dusted in sand/dirt - removable. Condition reports are available from Stefek's upon request.
