A lovely hand-painted cotton thangka panel of the Kulayaraja Tantra, Samantabhadra in the center characteristically depicted with blue-black skin in union with his consort Samantabhadri, painted in white. Inhabiting the rest of the composition are dozens of depictions of symbolic animals and deities sacred in the Buddhist faith. This thangka is mounted in a custom gilt frame and mat and is ready to display! Size (thangka): 32" L x 25.5" W (81.3 cm x 64.8 cm); (frame): 40.25" L x 33.75" W (102.2 cm x 85.7 cm)

Provenance: ex-Denver, Colorado, USA collection; ex-private Burns collection, Longmont, Colorado, USA, acquired in the 1950s to 1960s. Mr. Burns is an accomplished mountain climber who scaled many of the highest peaks across the globe.

Thangka is in good condition. Fading and losses to pigments. Crease lines vertically and horizontally. Tearing and perforation to upper right side. Motifs are mostly clear and discernable. Mounted in a modern wood frame and green matting. Chip and minor scuffs to frame.
