TEXTILE: "The Apotheosis of Washington" comforter, copperplate is c. 1785, backing is c. 1880s, cotton, whole cloth comforter: face fabric is "The Apotheosis of Washington," copperplate-printed fabric in red on white, the comforter appears to have been pieced of old fabric, or perhaps bed curtains in the 1880s or later, as the backing fabric is a black and white late 19th-century calico, finished with a knife edge and tied with white cotton yarn, thick wadding, good condition considering age and use, center is faded, but otherwise fine, sold as is, 85" l. x 85" w.
