Description
A lot of two antique 19th-century French round hand-painted porcelain wall plaques. The first plaque is a copy of an early 19th-century engraving titled Homer, The Blind Greek Poet, Is Guided By His Son. The second engraving is a copy of a 1795 painting titled Belisaire by Francois Gerard, 1770-1837, a French artist. Belisaire is a banned 1767 French novel on the life of the Byzantine general Belisarius by Jean-François Marmontel. The artwork depicts the main character carrying a boy in his arms.
