This quite interesting map shows manufacturing output in Dollars per Square Mile at the Twelfth Census. This type of industrial output density map isn't used frequntly currently. The color-coding shows output range from less than $1,000/sq. mi. to over $100,000/sq. mi. Expectedly for the time period, the Boston to Philadelphia corridor, Buffalo, Pittsburgh to Cleveland and the larger Midwest cities have the highest output.
