Description
(1906 – 1979) U.S. Army photographer during World War II. Brass cigarette case, stamped with title ‘U.S. OCCUPATIN ZONE’, and below stamped with date ‘1949’, in between is an engraved map of the U.S. occupation zone, incidentally establishing the country of Western Germany in 1949, also showing Austria. An artistic brass and silver two-toned metal. This high-quality cigarette case belonged to U.S. Army photographer THEODORE SPEISER, whose professional work during World War II can be seen elsewhere in this auction. The clasp on the right side is still perfectly functional. Some expected scratching on the brass finish, else fine.
