Marc Chagall (Russian/French, 1887-1985), "Attroupement des Paysans" (Crowd of Peasants), from the series of illustrations to the poem "Les Ames Mortes" (Dead Souls) by Nikolay Gogol, etching on wove paper, 1923-1927, signed in plate, marked with a sticker from the Vincent Price Collection at Sears. In the 1960s Sears approached the actor, Vincent Price, to curate a collection of affordable fine art to be purchased through Sears to the general public. Image: 12" H x 9.5" W; frame: 19.5" H x 17.25" W.
