A Chinese famille rose "Pavilion of Buddhist Incense of the Summer Palace" table screen
Jiaqing period
With a summer palace scene.
Notes: Started construction from Qing Qianlong Period, "Pavilion of Buddhist Incense is the main attraction of Beijing Summer Palace, with its magnificent architecture and its prominent location which gives one a grand view within miles of Wanshou Mountain. This table screen consists of a porcelain panel inserted in a grass patterned hardwood base. On the panel is a depiction of the "Pavilion of Buddhist Incense painted in famille rose- below a cloudy blue sky, the tower stands tall on the stone platform, in its red-wall and green-tile glory; surrounded by lush trees, the tower rests within serenity; the architectures around the tower are intricately painted that the doors and windows are detailed; in the courtyard is a leisure view of pine trees and stones. The painting is vibrant and neatly structured and the colors are well balacned, preserving a precious view of Pavilion of Buddhist Incense at the time for future generations. Provenance: Collection of Mr. Lowe, California. His grandmother traveled around the world during the 1920s-1940s and these items were acquired during those travels.
Condition: The plaque is in good condition. Three corners of the frame have been repaired; areas of residue to frame. Crack to the stand. Measurement for total screen:
