Hand crank sewing machine housed in a wood case with built in sewing drawer, the first patent for a portable sewing machine put out by Grover & Baker.
Wood, metal,Overall 10" t x 13" w x 9 1/4" d.
Marked "Patented 4601 Feby 17, 1851 June 22, 1853 Feby 22 1853" on metal plate.
From the collection of a Barrington, Rhode Island estate.
Condition
Areas of rust deposits, untested, areas of minor wood splits to case, no key, missing two feet, general wear associated with age and use, please refer to photographs.
