Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $900**

Northwestern Europe, England, London, ca. 1830s CE. A fine 0.64 caliber pistol with a wooden stock and brass fittings, brass barrel, and iron lock plate stamped with the Ketland maker mark. The octagonal barrel has a smooth bore hole and a full wood stock with the original ramrod resting under the barrel with brass fittings. The barrel is etched with a foliate motif and "London" with a proof mark on the side. The iron lock plate below the hammer is stamped with a somewhat rubbed stamp for Ketland and Co. The brass trigger guard is also richly incised with scrolling motifs and the back-stock curves downward to a rounded butt and brass cap. Ketland manufactured guns in the early 19th century which were exported the United States where they often were widely used in the Revolutionary War and traded with Native Americans. The gun was likely flintlock originally and then later converted to percussion and has a great patina throughout. Size: 14" L x 2" W (35.6 cm x 5.1 cm); bore: 0.65" W (1.7 cm)
