**First Time At Auction**
Maria Laweka (Native American, Cochiti Pueblo, 1930 to 2002), ca. mid to late 20th century CE. An adorable hand-made pottery sculpture signed by Cochiti potter Maria Laweka. The goat is quite solid, with a petite vent hole in his open mouth, the surface painted a taupe hue with black stripes. Laweka is known for her animal figures that are imaginative and whimsical - favoring bulging eyes and protruding tongues! Provenance: ex-Sally Snell collection, bequeathed by her uncle Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
